Enjoy a Weekend of Adventure in Moreton Island

Moreton Island is 37 kilometers of sand, surf, natural beauty and wildlife. Although it has so much to offer, it’s most recognizable for a few things. Firstly it’s impressive collection of fifteen shipwrecks. This amazing site attracts many snorkelers and divers who come who are looking to experience the wide range of marine life. Wobbegongs, trevally, kingfish, yellowtail, turtles, dugongs and loads of tropical fish are known to frequent these waters.

Secondly is the Cape Moreton Lighthouse – which happens to be the first lighthouse that was ever built in Queensland. This site is definitely worth a visit. Not only will you admire the historic structure but also enjoy the views from this scenic vantage point.

Lastly, Moreton Island’s sand dunes are some of the largest in the world. The larger the sand dune, the better they are for tobogganing. How does tobogganing work? Well, you can climb to the top of these sand dunes, wax up a wooden board or large piece of cardboard and launch yourself off the edge. If you’re an adrenaline junkie, you can reach speeds of up to 60km/h.
