As a new student, we know you are excited to hit the ground running and explore our city. Why wouldn’t you be? After all, Brisbane is considered one of the friendliest cities in the world and was voted the hippest city in the world by Lonely Planet. Discovering a new city and getting your bearings together can be tough to do on your own. That’s why we have organised a city tour that you can attend on your first day at Shafston (every Monday).

Our Activities Coordinator will lead you through the city’s sites, starting off with one of the ferry stops closest to the campus at Dockside. The CityCat will take you from Dockside, Kangaroo Point to the Eagle Street Pier terminal.

Eagle Street is a predominantly a corporate district with a range of bars and prestigious restaurants like Friday’s, Blackbird, Esquire, Aria and Alchemy. The tour will then continue west to Charlotte Street and through to Edward Street where you will notice more of Brisbane’s bars and nightclubs like the Stock Exchange and the Victory Hotel that attract a younger crowd.

Continuing north-west along Edward St you will find Brisbane city’s Apple Store. From there, you will enter the center of Brisbane’s fashion scene, Queen Street Mall. Whilst in the Queen Street Mall, our Activities Coordinator will take you to Rankins On the Mall where you can purchase and organise your go card.

The tour will finish by visiting Reddacliff Place at the top of Queen Street Mall. This spot hosts weekly fresh food markets every Wednesday and free salsa dancing on Friday nights. From here, the tour will depart at the North Quay CityCat terminal.
