Become a Hospitality Superstar with Our Job Ready Program

Become a Hospitality Superstar With Our Job Ready Program
When arriving in Australia, many students are immediately on the hunt for a casual job and working in the hospitality industry is generally on top of their list. It’s a fun environment to work in and you have the chance to meet many different people from all over the world. It’s also an ideal job for most Shafston students as our campus is close to many eatery precincts such as South Bank, West End, Brisbane CBD and the Fortitude Valley.
This industry is quite broad too, so you could be serving creamy latte’s at one of Brisbane’s funkiest cafes, creating fancy cocktails at a popular bar or serving a meal to a celebrity in a hatted restaurant. You never know where the job might take you.
To get you started on your journey, we have created the perfect resource for you – the Job Ready Program. The Job Ready Program has four components; Job Introduction, Barista Course, Waiter Training and a Hospitality Industry Certification class.
The Job Introduction component aims to introduce students to finding work in Australia. You will learn how to prepare a resume, a range of interviewing skills, how to create a tax file number and other general advice.
Our Barista Course is quite a popular class that teaches students how to create a range of coffee based drinks sold in Australian cafes. You will also learn a range of basic maintenance and operation skills when dealing with an espresso machine. By the time you are done with this course, you’ll be able to master the Aussie flat white.
The Waiter Training class will teach you basic waiting, customer service skills and essential English vocabulary needed when working in the industry like the classic “how well do you want your steak done?”.
Lastly, the Hospitality/ Industry Certification class will equip you with the following certifications;
RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol): This certificate is required for anyone working on premises that serve alcohol such as restaurants and bars.
RSG (Responsible Service of Gambling): This certificate is required for anyone carrying out gaming duties.
HYG (Hygiene for Food Handlers): This is required for handling food as you will have the skills and knowledge in food safety and food hygiene.
White Card: This course is required for anyone who wants to work in the construction industry.
So, if you are looking to break into the hospitality industry with qualifications behind you, then our Job Ready Program is perfect for you.
